Śiva-mahimna-stotra verse 4

॥ ॐ वक्रतुण्डाय  नमः ॥

शिवमहिम्नः  स्तोत्रम् verse 4

तवैश्वर्यं यत्तज्जगदुदयरक्षाप्रलयकृत्

त्रयीवस्तु व्यस्तं तिसृषु गुणभिन्नासु तनुषु ।

अभव्यानामस्मिन् वरद रमणीयामरमणीम्

विहन्तुं व्याक्रोशीं विदधत इहैके जडधियः ॥

पदच्छेदः – तव, ऐश्वर्यम्, यत्, तत्, जगदुदयरक्षाप्रलयकृत्, त्रयीवस्तु, व्यस्तम्, तिसृषु, गुणभिन्नासु, अभव्यानाम्, अस्मिन्, वरद, रमणीयाम्, अरमणीम्, विहन्तुम्, व्याक्रोशीम्, विदधते, इह, एके, जडधियः ।

अन्वयः – वरद ! इह एके जडधियः* तव ऐश्वर्यं, यत् त्रयीवस्तु तिसृषु गुणभिन्नासु तनुषु** व्यस्तम् जगदुदयरक्षाप्रलयकृत्, तत् विहन्तुम् अस्मिन् अभव्यानां रमणीयाम् अरमणीं व्याक्रोशीं विदधते ।

English translation: 

O bestower of boons, some dull minded [people] in this world propound displeasing statements to refute your supremacy... [a supremacy] which is the subject of the three Vedas, [which is] divided into three bodies based on guṇas and [which is] the responsible for the creation, maintenance and destruction of the world... [these annoying statements] are pleasing to the wicked.

अतीतः पन्थानं तव च महिमा वाङ्मनसयोः

अतद्व्यावृत्त्या यं चकितमभिधत्ते श्रुतिरपि ।

स कस्य स्तोतव्यः कतिविधगुणः कस्य विषयः

पदे त्वर्वाचीने पतति न मनः कस्य न वचः ॥

पदच्छेदः – अतीतः, पन्थानम्, तव, च, महिमा, वाङ्मनसयोः, अतद्व्यावृत्त्या, यम्, चकितम्, अभिधत्ते, श्रुतिः, अपि, सः, कस्य, विषयः, पदे, तु, अर्वाचीने, पतति, न, मनः, कस्य, न, वचः ।

अन्वयः –  तव महिमा वाङ्मनसयोः पन्थानम् अतीतः (अस्ति) । यम्  श्रुतिः अपि चकितम् अतद्व्यावृत्त्या अभिद्धत्ते, सः (महिमा) कस्य स्तोतव्यः? कतिविधगुणः (सः) कस्य विषयः (भवेत्)? अर्वाचीने पदे तु कस्य मनः वचः च न पतति? 

English translation:

Your greatness goes beyond the path of the mind and speech. By whom can [that greatness] be praised, which even the Veda speaks of tremblingly, praising it by the distinction 'it is not that'? The object of whose senses [could it be, that greatness] which has so many types of qualities? Whose mind and speech don't fall at [your] later [saguṇa] form*?

atītaḥ panthānaṃ tava ca mahimā vāṅmanasayoḥ 
atadvyāvṛttyā yaṃ cakitamabhidhatte śrutirapi
sa kasya stotavyaḥ katividhaguṇaḥ kasya viṣayaḥ
